Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care and Outreach

St. Mary’s Parish offers outreach to the greater Oneonta community in a number of ways.

We offer Communion visits to the hospitalized and homebound and prayer services in neighborhood care facilities.

For more information or to request a pastoral visit, please contact the parish office at 607-432-3920.

Nursing Home Visits

On a weekly basis, pastoral care ministers visit Fox Nursing Home, Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center,

Robynwood Home for Adults, and Hampshire House Adult Home to offer Holy Communion and a connection to the parish.

The Plains at Parish Homestead and Cooperstown Center are visited upon request.

Visits to the Homebound

Pastoral care ministers can visit your home to offer prayers and Holy Communion.

Hospital Visits

Due to more stringent enforcement of HIPAA privacy laws, hospitals no longer notify the parish directly if you or a loved one has been hospitalized.  A family member must contact the parish if a Communion visit or Anointing of The Sick is needed.

(The Anointing of the Sick can be administered at any time; no need to wait until the person is dying.)
